Building a Website  Concept Through Fast-Paced Workshops

Sector: Music Application ( Hip-pop, Jazz, etc)

Challenge: To better connect with its audiences, including building a more intuitive information architecture and developing a coherent visual language.

My Role:Workshop Facilitation, Information Architecture, Web design, Branding

Project Time: 3 weeks (before handoff to development)

Oplay Brand Identity

Oplay brand identity is the visible elements of a brand, such as color, design, and logo, that identify and distinguish the brand in the users' minds.

Adding shuffle, timing, and tuning options to the player will make music listening seem natural and effortless. Users may choose to highlight their favorite songs or compile them intopersonalized playlists.

With over 10 years of experience, VinGodwin deeply understands users' needs and designs products that are both useful and a joy to use.

His portfolio includes work for industry leaders like Apple, Google, and Samsung, where he led design on flagship mobile apps and platforms.

Culture: How would our community describe us?

Target Groups: How would we describe our target audience?

Voice: How do we want to sound to others?

Feeling: How do others feel after being in contact with us?

Impact: What tangible impact do we have on others?

X-Factor: How are we different from others?

The main Goal:

In this case, the main goal was to gather information for creating the future application design and to allow objective discussions about it. Still, this exercise can be used for so much more, for example, to define the “filter” marketing copy

has to run through (voice attributes) and what it should be about (x-factor).

Initial gathering of individual expectations and
definition of daily goals.

Brainstorming and
prioritizing brand attributes.

All put together, it creates
the mission statement.

Overview

Music uplifts your state of mind. There is the right kind of music for every mood of ours.
The variety of Music which we are offered to us is kind of
exciting and overwhelming at the same time.
It is important that we, as users, get the right Music.

Problem Statement

Design a music player app to curate and cater to the user’s specific tastes

through its algorithm and interface and ensure that its machine-learning functions improve

over time and with the frequency of usage.

Solution

During onboarding, the app can ask questions to know the user's taste in music so that it

can give appropriate suggestions, A lot of people depend on music streaming services for

their entertainment. During open-ended research.

Background

Discovery: The central component of user engagement is the availability of music and

the ability to discover similar genres.

Personalization and deep categorization: The music can be sorted by period, genre, performer

association (solo albums of band members) or by more ephemeral characteristics such as

mood (happy, sad, romantic), tone (dark, brooding, sunshiny), or pace (fast, slow, waltz)

of the compositions.

High performance: As the critical features of leading services are almost the same,

the app’s performance may become the deciding point. The app needs to present good speed

and less resource consumption. It should take less than 300ms for the music to start playing from

the moment a listener has selected a song.

Narrowing down
the of work

. 57% of users felt that the process of signing into an app is frustrating.

. 29% were frustrated that the Next button was disabled so they could not identify which

were missing required sections and display.

. 29% of users found that it was easy to miss field inputs due to a lack of visual hierarchy

wireframing the  solutions

Based on the above problems identified, I worked towards addressing these pains by

coming up with potential solutions:

* Reducing the number of steps to minimize time completion

*Establishing a more clearer visual hierarchy by grouping related fields together

I quickly mocked up some basic wireframes to gather feedback from Product, Engineering and the

users on the overall layout and structure of the Signing In/Signing out. This involved establishing a standardized
visual hierarchy and layout for the future OPlay component.

Validating the Designs

I conducted usability testing sessions with our primary users to validate whether the new

designs would solve their problems. I wrote a script including a scenario asking the user to create a
new display targeting all user's ages on mobile devices with manual bidding enabled.

During the session, I observed how they interacted with the prototype and set up the display.,

The usability session revealed that it was less arduous to set up a new display.
It was easier for the user to identify which forms they had to fill, as advanced settings

were now hidden under a collapsible toggle

Sitemap: Development of the sitemap, taking into account the defined proto-personas and the respective
solutions to their problems and motivations as well as the objectives of a music mobile app.

Results and Takeaways

Since the implementation of the new rebuild of the Oplay display,

we have seen a significant decrease in the number of complaints lodged through the signing In/Signing up option

. Additionally, I have received positive feedback from users about the simplified configuration

of their Audiences, saving them a large proportion of their time.

Some key takeaways from this project are:

Create a strategic plan to launch an MVP: This helps deal with out-of-scope requests

that could potentially derail the project and helps deliver a quality product in time.

User testing doesn't end after development: Design is a constant iteration of

improving the experience for the end user. Always find ways to collect and listen to your

user's feedback.

Involve engineering upfront: This helps to reduce any rework later on as

an understanding of the technical limitations upfront will help to inform your design strategy.
